Bialystok

Bialystok is the largest city (pop. 286,000 in 2001) in north-eastern Poland and the capital of Podlaskie Voivodship. The city is somewhat famous as the birthplace of L. L. Zamenhof, creator of Esperanto.


"Max Bialystok" is one of the lead character's in Mel Brooks' farce The Producers.
