Beast (superhero)
Beast is a comic book superhero. Great agility is his mutant power, and a brilliant scientific mind his non-mutant ability.Beast started off looking like a normal human except for his large feet, but later looked like a beast. He may have changed back and forth since.
He was a member of the X-Men, X Factor, The Avengers, and possibly The Defenders. The Beast is the name of a fictional character in Marvel Comic books. He is a member of the X-Men and has also been affiliated with the Avengers, the X-Factor, and the Defenders. He is covered in blue fur and has teeth and claws that are sharp like a tiger's. His mutation grants him superhuman strength and agility. He is also endowed with a brilliant mind.
At one time the Beast actually resembled a normal human, but with unusually large hands and feet. Hank McCoy was working on a therapy that would make his appearance less freakish but it back-fired and actually accellerated his mutation to a new level, and gave him his current appearance.
His first appearance was in X-Men (first series) issue 1, and his first appearance with fur was in Amazing Adventures issue 11.
The Beast has the distinction of being one of the 5 original founding members of the X-Men, among Cyclops (Scott Summers), Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Ice-Man (Bobby Drake), and Angel (Warren Worthington III).
The Beast is often confused with another X-Men member, Wolverine.
