Battles of Kawanakajima

The Battles of Kawanakajima (川中島の戦い) were fought in the Sengoku Period of Japan between Takeda Shingen in Kai province and Uesugi Kenshin in Echigo province in the zone, Kawanaka.

The five major battles took place in 1553, 1555, 1557, 1561 and 1564. The most known and severest among them is the battle on September 10, 1564.

The battles were initiated by that Shinge conqured Shinano province, expelling Murakami Yoshiharu and Ogasawara Nagatoki who asked help for Kenshin.
