AMM (group)

Amm is an important British free improvisation group, founded in London, England in 1965.

Initially composed of Keith Rowe on guitar, Lou Gare on saxophone and Eddie Prevost on drums, AMM reelased their first recording in 1966. There were initial similarities to free jazz, but since Gare's departure in the early 1970s, AMM have perhaps had more in common with minimalism.

Members of the group have come and gone over the years, but Rowe and Prevost have ususally been present for most recordings and performances. Since the early 1980's, pianist John Tilbury has been a regular member.
