A Room with a View
\A Room with a View is is a novel by E. M. Forster, which tells the story of a young Englishwoman whose encounter with a handsome young man in Florence may interfere with her marriage plans.
Film adaptation
It was adapted by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala in 1986; directed by James Ivory. The film stars Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter, Denholm Elliott, Julian Sands, Simon Callow, Judi Dench and Daniel Day-Lewis.
It won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Costume Design and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Denholm Elliott), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Maggie Smith), Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Picture.
