1960 Summer Paralympics

The 1960 Summer Paralympic Games were the first Paralympics. They were held in Rome, Italy with the Olympics. The only disability included in this paralympics was spinal cord injury. Twenty-three countries took part with 400 athletes.

The Games lasted from September 19 to September 24, with the opening ceremony on September 18 opened by Camillo Giardina. The closing ceremony was on September 25.
